Graduation

My 3 years in pursuing a tertiary education was bitter-sweet.  And so was my graduation day. Bitter leaving a few awesome friends, the school environment, the chatty lecturers. Sweet, as I have completed this arduous 3 years course, recognised as a graduate and an alumni, and I will be embarking on a totally new journey beginning today.

I remember the countless monotonous and dull tutorials and lectures that I have attended, numerous reports and essays I have written, endless tests and examinations to study for, a bunch of projects within the same week of deadline.    The inevitable conflicts with peers and a chunk of “unhappy” tweets that I have posted on the twitter account.  Perhaps, all these are part of the little training before entering the world.  However, the world isn’t that bad, I suppose?

Genuine friendships were forged and there are peers whom I have overcome the turbulent waves with.  Maybe I will miss staying up till the wee hours of the morning doing projects with them?  Just maybe.  Glad to have nice lecturers who have encouraged me and gave me wise advice.  Sometimes, it feels wonderful to be mentored; to have someone giving you direction, advice and motivation.  I love being cared for.  I will dearly miss my favourite canteen and food in school - “ban mian” or “tom yum ban mian” (always buying the same food from the same aunty during breaks).

My parents and close friends have been the most stable, enduring and perfect pillars of support in my life, not just in tertiary school.  My closest friends have been there to lend a listening ear whenever I need to rant or complain.  Sometimes, they agree with my “temporary-upset-and-i-don’t-really-mean-it” views as they know that I needed an avenue to speak my mind.  They know I will be fine after that.

I express utmost gratitude to my parents for supporting me and being extremely patient especially during my stressful “seasons” in school (i.e projects, examinations, deadlines).  My dad and mom who did the exact same course as me 30 over years ago, helped and guided me whenever I don’t understand the theoretical/technical aspect of certain subjects.  Thank you Mum for the sumptuous meals and hot soup that you have whipped for the family everyday.

Thank you God for the spiritual support and for answering my prayers.  You have comforted me during nerve-wrecking presentations and gave me a really good “storage space” in my big brain - all the memory work.  I know that if You bring me to it, You will bring me through it.

All in all, I am a happy graduate and just want to share - “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you have imagined.”  GRADUATE LO!!!!!!!!!!!
